CORY'S STORY
My name is Cory Smith. Currently, I am a meteorologist at Spectrum News in Buffalo, NY.
I grew up as a child in Tampa, FL. While there, I experienced the hurricane seasons (especially 2004-2005) that sparked my interest in weather. In 2009 I moved to Charlotte, NC. While there, I graduated with a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
In 2018, I moved to Parkersburg, WV to start my life as a TV Meteorologist at WTAP. Since then, I have worked in Lafayette, LA at News 15, WLTX in Columbia, SC, and ABC 24 in Memphis TN.
While I was along the Gulf Coast I forecast and experienced over half a dozen tropical systems including Hurricanes Laura, Delta, and Ida. In my other stops, I got to cover several tornado outbreaks and even severe weather.
Now in Buffalo, I cannot wait to experience the winters the city is known for and explore all of Western New York!
